What if paleo doesn’t work? I have seen people succeed and I have seen people fail at paleo. What if it doesn’t fix the health issues you have or your confidence you are looking for or any other reason you may be following the paleo diet. There could be oodles and oodles of reason of why it may not be working for you BUT that isn’t a reason to give up. Your body is like a blank canvas. You choose what you put into it and how you treat it. Maybe strict paleo works for you and maybe the 80/20 approach is better for you. Maybe you have to eat a few more carbs than what the paleo diet can give you. Maybe your body runs better on a high fat keto diet versus the high protein paleo diet. Whatever it is, choose wisely of the things you eat and treat your body with care. Experiment with your body and figure out the foods that make you feel good! If it isn’t paleo, don’t stress.
I have recently noticed that adding more carbs into my diet is greatly benefiting my workouts, my energy levels and my confidence. The most important thing about health is figuring out what works best for YOU. Just because someone can get away with eating ice cream, cookies and cake for every meal doesn’t mean that is the best fit for your body and the fuel it needs. Do I eat strict paleo? Absolutely not. Do I stress about it? Nope. Did I used too? Totally. As you experiment and start figuring out your body the happier you will be. I didn’t always know what the best fuel was for me. But, I can honestly say I am on the right track of figuring it out. You can too.
Over the 4th I made some pancakes for the family, meaning, I threw some things together and called them pancakes. Well, I really wanted berries in them and all I could find was frozen blackberries so I threw them in. Damn blackberries are so gigantic that most my pancakes looked not so much like pancakes. So, I came up with these!
- 2 bananas, mashed
- 5 eggs
- ½ cup coconut flour
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 cup frozen blackberries
- In a sauce pan over medium high heat add frozen blackberries and honey and cook and stir until broken down (some chunks ok) then set aside to cool.
- Add mashed bananas and eggs to a mixing bowl and mix with a hand mixer until no more banana chunks.
- Add coconut flour and mix until smooth
- Stir in blackberries and cook like pancakes in a skillet on stove on medium low heat until done.
- Add your favorite toppings and enjoy!
