Well, leave it up to me to basically sabotage my prep. Over the last couple weeks my body fat percentage was.not.budging. Frustrating, right? Luckily, my coach and I were able to figure it out now versus after my show. Earlier in my prep when I had a higher caloric intake, I was eating about 5-6 small meals a day because it was just easier that way and I knew all body building preppers ate that way. Then, like a dumby, once my caloric intake got smaller I started only eating three meals a day plus my post workout shakes. My body was going to long without eating so my metabolism started to freeze up and hold onto the food I was eating (because I am obviously in a caloric deficit). WHY DID I DO THAT?! I have always known that 5-6 daily meals is normal for prepping for a show but I ignored that for some reason that I just can’t pinpoint.
After wallowing in the sorrow of my stupidity for a short bit I decided that I am not going to let this get me down any longer. I have been working my butt off day in and day out for months and I am not going to let a little learning experience ruin that. Because that is exactly what this is, a learning experience. This is my first show, I ain’t no expert and I am sure I will mess up again somewhere else down the road. I am already proud of the amount of dedication and determination I have put into this.
So, here I sit, three weeks out from my show. I am already feeling the excitement and adrenaline which I think will make these next few weeks fly by. I have a fridge full of prepped food, I have my reminders in my phone to eat every 2.5 hours and I have my workouts all scheduled out for the week. Bring.it.on. As grueling as this experience has been so far, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I am growing as an individual, enhancing my knowledge in the fitness industry and proving to myself that if I set my mind on something, I will succeed as long as I stay committed.
