Is it really Monday already? Why must weekends just fly by, WHY?! Saturday was a girls day spent driving the country side from winery to winery to brewery. It was wonderful. Over the last 6 months or so, I don’t indulge in alcoholic beverages like I used to. I don’t really have a specific reason except that I cut out all alcohol 16 weeks prior to my body building show and didn’t really miss it. So now, I have a drink here and there when I feel like it but that’s about it. On Saturday, I was that light weight feeling it right away before we even left the first winery. I planned ahead though and ate before we left and brought my gallon of water with because I knew we needed to stay hydrated. The girls were teasing me of course but I had the last laugh when they were all guzzling after the first stop.
A lot of people who talk to me who want to get heathier always gives me a huge list of things that they do NOT want to do or give up. I have to explain to them that yes, there are some sacrifices you will have to make. Like, eating less and moving more. I by no means, want people to think they need to live in a box and not see the outside of their house to see results. But yes, it is a change in your lifestyle. It is choosing the salad bar over the pizza bar, it is taking the stairs instead of the elevator, it is drinking water instead of diet coke. It isn’t deprivation, it isn’t torture. It is a lifestyle change to better your overall health. And if you aren’t willing to “give up things” that aren’t benefiting you in the slightest then frankly, you aren’t ready to make that lifestyle change. I spent Saturday wine and beer taste testing. Did I use that as an excuse to just make the day a free for all and eat whatever I wanted? No! It is called having balance. I knew what I was going to be doing that day so I ate a nutritious breakfast, had a snack before we left and ate a healthy dinner. Was I deprived? No! Did I get completely off track of my goals? No! You can still live and enjoy things while trying to get healthier. You just have to find a balance.
Calling all sweet tooth and candy folks! If you have a crazy sweet tooth, love candy or just need to “indulge” in dessert after dinner I’ve got you covered! I am not lying when I say these taste just like candy! It is heavenly goodness all in one bite. I’m more of a savory person myself but do crave the occasional sweet treat and these definitely do the trick!
