I have always been a planner and flying by the seat of my pants isn’t one of my strong suits. I always thought of myself as a pretty proactive planner. I get things done in advanced (for the most part), I pre plan our meals for the week before going to the grocery store, I meal prep, I plan my weeks appointments, workouts, and other activities, and I always try and have a plan no matter what I am doing. These days, however, having a newborn at home is really testing my planning abilities. When I think I have a new little routine down, Avri decides to switch up her routine which throws mine off. And soon I will be faced with having to plan to get workouts in again.
I knew becoming a mom would add a whole new dimension to my life, but I never really could envision what that would look like. Frankly, I still don’t know what it looks like or what it will look like a week from now. Over these last 5 1/2 weeks I have learned to go into each day with a tentative plan. I have a plan on how I would like my day to go, but am flexible to make sure Avri gets what she needs throughout the day. She is number one. When the time comes to get back into the gym, fingers crossed that is in the next week, then I will tentatively plan those in too. There will be plenty of missed workouts I am sure and that is something I am going to have to become okay with. I am a mom now and that is my number one priority and will be for the rest of my life. I am still a planner who loves routine and sooner or later I will eventually find a new routine that works for me and my family. I will stumble, fall and not do everything I planned to do often. That is life and I am ready for this new journey.
With all of that being said, if there are any momma’s out there and have any tips on how to continue to live a healthy lifestyle through eating well and working out often, being a great mom and wife, and staying sane please message me! I’d love to hear them!
