Happy Friday! It is currently 5:30am and I am cuddled up on the couch with coffee in hand. I normally work Fridays, but today I have the day off and guess who forgot to turn off their alarm? This girl. I had it set for a little later to go to the gym so when it went off I just assumed that’s what time it was. I didn’t notice what time it actually was until a good 10 minutes later when I of course was wide awake. So here I am, getting my work done early!
I could have easily crawled back into bed for another hour, but instead I made the choice to start my day on a positive note. I made myself some coffee and sat down to get some work done because I know I have a busy day. My alarm going off early is somewhat of a blessing in disguise because if I weren’t getting some work done right now, later on I would feel rushed and maybe not put my best effort into it. Does this happen to you? To live a healthy lifestyle, make consistent good choices, be productive and be happy day in and day out you have to change your priorities. Get rid of the things in your life that is no longer serving you and start with making yourself more of a priority.
I am an early riser to begin with and don’t tell me husband, but I love the mornings when he is still sleeping, baby A is still sleeping and I have the livingroom to myself. I get to relax if I want to, read my affirmations without rushing or being distracted and just let me be the priority. My alarm going off early this morning has me thinking that I need to make this a new routine on my days off of my main job. Somethings that can seem so annoying at first can really be just what we need. Take a look at your day, is there any time set aside just for you? This could be a gym date with yourself, a lunch hour walk, meditation, reading or taking a bath before bed. Make a date with yourself as often as you can to make yourself a priority.
Sprints! I am not quite able to do running sprints yet. My body simply isn’t healed enough from giving birth. However, I still love sprinting and like to incorporate them into my workout routine. Sprints can be done with just about anything. As long as you are raising your heart rate quickly, for a short time (15-30 seconds) and then bringing it down you are sprinting. These rowing sprints should be done on a rowing machine. Set the resistance to a level you can complete a 50 meter row within 15-30 seconds.
Rowing Sprints
– row has hard as you can for 50 meters
– row easy/light for 100 meters
– repeat for 2,000 meters
